The day is about taking in the best of Tulum

Our first stop is the Tulum Ruins, arriving before large tour groups so we can intimately enjoy this archaeological site. This YucaTreks strategy sets the tone for a relaxing, hassle-free day. Once you enter the Ruins, you will see there is no other place on the Mayan Riviera coast that compares to this ancient Mayan site. The Tulum Ruins has one of the most dramatic settings – perched atop a small cliff overlooking the beautiful Caribbean Sea. Although we have visited countless times, the stunning view continues to astound us. Your certified guide will share the history, architectural details and stories of this Mayan seaport and ceremonial center. Our tour guests love the interesting information, spectacular views, and leave with a greater appreciation for the history of the ancient Mayan civilization.

Experience a natural wonder in Tulum

After the visit to the Tulum Ruins, you will love the next stop. The Yucatan is known for its cenotes (say-no-teh), limestone sinkholes naturally created in the landscape. The Maya considered cenotes (dzonot in Maya) to be entrances to the underworld, using them as ceremonial waters for spiritual rituals, as well as their only source of fresh water. In contemporary Yucatan, cenotes are known to be entrances to the peninsula’s subterranean river systems, connecting caverns and caves, that run throughout the area. Cenote Zemway is a exemplary example of one of these natural wonders that has some great jump off points as an added bonus! The water is refreshingly cool and very clear, the result of rain water filtering through the limestone making it some of the clearest water many have ever seen. Snorkeling in this natural wonder will give you an unforgettable memory that can only be experienced first hand. We snorkel or swim for as long as the group enjoys it.

Under the palm trees on a stretch of paradise

Tulum is known world-wide for its spectacular beaches and Caribbean views and voted by Conde Nast as one of the top 10 beaches in the world. After cooling off at the jungle cenote its time to head to the beach to catch a few rays and we know of a spot that is absolutely stunning. Turquoise waters and white sand as far as the eye can see, a perfect spot to lie out on your beach towel for a bit, go for a swim, throw the frisbee around or have a romantic stroll down the beach. There’s no rush, so enjoy the sun and surf and most of all, just chill. You’re on vacation!

One last stop to explore the mysteries of the jungle

As we head back to Playa, there is one last spot we want to share with you. Our last stop is a great little cenote, an oasis in the middle of the jungle. This cenote, unlike others has a host of tropical freshwater fish, fossils, and a cliff. Cliff jumping seems to be the activity of choice, but you can decide if floating, swimming, snorkeling or chilling suits you better. Another wonderful setting, our late afternoon arrival increases our chances of seeing tropical birds that call this cenote their home. All in all, this is a perfect ending to a beautiful day.
